Custom Play Structures
Custom designed one-of-a-kind play structures are site specific and designed to fit all kinds of challenging terrain. Our custom designed play structures are made from redwood and come in all shapes and sizes, including castles, pirate ships, western forts, tipis, log cabins, lighthouses, clubhouses and theaters. A custom play structure has one or more 2-story towers, bridges, rock climbing walls, rope ladders, slides, swings, climbing bars, zip lines, firepoles, tunnels and secret escapes. Each one is imaginative, beautiful, and extremely safe and fun to play on.

Fort Harmony
Fort Harmony provides plenty of activity for youngsters while at the same time blending into the landscape and providing a harmonious view from the main house.
Fort Mediterranean
Fort Mediterranean offers spectacular views of the surrounding green countryside. Spanning over 51 feet, this extraordinary play structure provides numerous playhouses, bridges and hideaways. Curves, arches and the color palette lend a Mediterranean inspired charm to this combination fortress/castle.
Castle Starlight
Vibrant colors and castle cutouts highlite this 2-story Octagon Castle with a straight bridge over 2 swings. Rock climbing provides a challenging entrance up-and-over onto the Octagon Castle deck. Colorful crenelations and playful flags gives this structure a Medieval touch!
Wizards Hideout
Every 2 years, Rebuilding Together Peninsula partners with 15 local architects and Barbara Butler to create unique, one-of-a-kind, theme playhouses. These playhouses are displayed at the Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto, CA, for 3 weeks and then auctioned to the highest bidder during the "Dreams Happen" Gala event. 100% of the proceeds raised from auctioning the playhouses are donated to Rebuilding Together Peninsula, an organization that builds volunteer partnerships to rehabilitate homes & community facilities for low-income, elderly and/or disabled people. Barbara Butler Artist-Builder Inc. has participated in this wonderful playhouse auction for the past 10 years.
Belle Bungalow
In this compact, custom design, Barbara carved out fantastic play space by nestling Belle Bungalow into the hillside, on top of the existing retaining wall. The deck juts out just enough to provide space for monkey bars below, and access for a rock climbing wall and a rope net ladder. The slide is the only part of the play structure that invades the lawn area.
